Flu Vaccination Coverage by High-Risk Conditions, Adults, BRFSS

Influenza vaccination coverage is monitored among persons with medical conditions that put them at high risk of complications from influenza. The number of high-risk medical conditions that are followed over time was increased for the 2013-14 influenza season. Before this season, a person was considered at high-risk for flu complications if they reported having asthma, diabetes, or heart disease. In 2013-14, a person was considered at high-risk if they had any of the following conditions: asthma, diabetes, heart disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, or cancers other than skin cancer. The effect of this change on flu vaccination coverage is shown below. Additional information on methods is available at Surveillance of Influenza Vaccination Coverage — United States, 2007–08 Through 2011–12 Influenza Seasons.
